Restoration Church

As a Church, we need a common vision for who we are and where we're headed together. This week, we look at what it means to follow Jesus, as we gather around a Person, a Path, and a Promise. (John 14:5-6)

Rest is central to God's restoring work in us, and a promise for those who enter into the life of Jesus (Matthew 11:28-30, Isaiah 30:15)

Community has been a central value at Restoration since day one. But after 5 and a half years, we sensed the need to rethink our approach to community, and open the door for more to experience life together. (Ephesians 3:17-19)

We're not just given a mission - we're given power for that mission. The Holy Spirit is already present and at work in and among us, and every believer is empowered to join God on mission right where they are (Acts 1:3,8). 

Church is the outcome of the mission of God - not the mission itself. When we remember the Gospel we believe and the mission we've been given, Church comes naturally. (Matthew 16:13-18)

James 5 calls us out of spiritual isolation and into the stories and struggles of others. And in response? We pray - because God is already present and at work in the troubles we face. (James 5:13-18)

All healthy relationships experience conflict from time to time. So how do we handle these moments with healthy boundaries and a heart for reconciliation? (James 4:1-3)

James knows that love is always connected to our words - the way we speak, the way we listen, and the way we speak from the overflowing of our hearts. Being faithful in following Jesus means a commitment to harness the power of our words to build people up in a tear-down world. (James 3:3-12)

In James 2, we're called to take account on the ways we undermine the mercy of God by judging others based on our own perceptions and bias. As we move deeper into the heart of God, we find mercy for ourselves - and mercy that triumphs over our judgment. (James 2:1-13)

In the words of E.O. Wilson, "We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom." James calls us to ask God for wisdom - and yet that wisdom often arrives in the form of those who've walked through the same struggles we now face. A healthy Church is a living library of lived, hard-earned wisdom that makes us more like Jesus. (James 1:2-4, 3:13-18)
